Voted for Ego & Deus.

First Ange album i heard was Par le fils de Mandrin and the one i like the most is Au-delá du délire.

Au-delà du Délire is the only Ange album I've heard, and based on it I really should get my hands on some of their other works. Haven't found any so far...

Although I think its predecessor Au Dela du Delire is better, Emile Jacotey is a very strong album by a band unjustly neglected by many on PA. I also find it mildly irritating that Ange are often very lazily compared to Genesis, (presumably on the flimsy premise that there is a theatrical bent to much of their earlier work ?)

Bele Bele petit chevre, Ode a Emile, Ego & Deus.
This was the only Ange album that I had for years. It still ranks among my favourites while many albums have fallen away ...

I'd say Le nain de Stanislas, followed by Le marchand de Planète, and finally by Sur la trace des fées.
I prefer Au-delà du délire and Guet-apens, though, both excellent albums.

I can't say. I have heard the album once or twice, about 28 years ago.

I just got this album recently, and I think I like it better than any Ange album I've heard yet, and it's mostly because of "Sur la trace des fees," which I think captures the spirit of opera within rock music very convincingly.  And that's hard to do.

It's very dramatic, but not in a cloying or saccharine sort of way, which is usually how "rock opera" comes across imo.  Decamps is such a great and powerfully emotional singer that it more than makes up for the slightly pedestrian musical backing.  Though I do think Ange's musicians had improved a lot since their early days.
