I just received from friends debut album of Ukrainian jazz fusion band DOK and was really attracted! Bass+ drums + sax/synth trio, with soloing sax, post-punk aesthetic and for sure John Zorn influence. By the way - very melodic music. All album is free for download on their site.

May be a bit too different too classic jazz rock, but somewhere between JR/F and RIO.
