A "Van der Graaf Generator" is an application that was constructed in experiments, trying to generate electricity from lightening (flashes). The man, who invented this "machine", was named Van der Graaf (last name). Therefore the application was namned Van der Graaf Generator. You can see it on the front cover of "The least we can do is wave yo eachother".
