What do you think of this Italian group?
And where would you put them in PA? http://www.myspace.com/ossiduri Edited by avestin - January 23 2010 at 09:31 |

From what their MySpace page says, they are very much in the Zappa vein, and have collaborated (among others) with famous satirical band Elio e le Storie Tese (often suggested here, but never added). Their story is quite interesting indeed, if it's true - it seems they started playing together at the ages of 8-9!

Assaf,
The RPI team eval'd them in Nov 2009 and suggested to Avant team given their extreme love of Zappa. Maybe the teams you mention would be options too. Jim |

Thanks Raff and Jim.
They are not on the ZART chart and I don't remember them being discussed in that team's thread (or I missed it). In any case, I think Eclectic or JRF would be better fit than Avant, at least according to what I hear on their myspace. |

I would say follow your gut on that Assaf, you are much better versed on the avant/eclectic styles than I am. :)

I found a review of their latest album, Scadenza Perfetta, via their site (www.ossiduri.com), which makes it clear that it's more in a JR/F vein than their previous, Zappa-influenced efforts. As the review comes from an Italian site I have a lot of regard for (Arlequins), I am inclined to trust it. I haven't listened to their material yet, but I am intrigued enough to do so as soon as possible.

Nah, it's just my opinion, and in many cases I seem to be in a minority.

Based on the myspace, it's one I would suggest for an Art Rock sub. So Eclectic. I've added it to the Eclectic chart and voted yes for it there based on what I've heard,
Yet it has been suggested that Zappa would fir Eclectic better. A Zappa influenced sound more commonly speaks Eclectic to me than Avant (and a lot of JJRF ones inspired by Zappa of course). |
