I recently ordered Chenevier's Les rumeurs de la ville on Wayside, when I saw it was $4 for the album. I received it a week ago or so and was positively surprised by this great avant-gardiste album with chamber rock leanings, by moments.

Gotta love the $4 Wayside albums. Should pick this one up myself. Anyway, you might find enough team members familiar with the work - I'm kind of shocked he hasn't been listed already, given his long involvement with RIO.

In fact, before I checked, I was sure he was here already.
I PM'ed you the album, already sent it to Luke and Chris Syz, and James wanted it too (I'll send him later) and I planned to send it to Claire. So we can say there's no member of the ZART who is familiar with his work, surprisingly. Maybe Assaf has heard it, he's heard everything Edited by Tsevir Leirbag - February 21 2010 at 17:28 |

I'm likewise surprised it's not here already. It could be added to Volapuk's discography, as it's essentially an expanded version the core Volapuk trio; alternatively we could create a separate entry for Guigou Chenevier's solo albums, although most of his post Etron Fou work was in collaboration with other artists - I've a feeling that Rumeurs is just about the only album credited to the man himself. I generally prefer his post Etron Fou output to Ferdinand Richard's, which I have mostly found disappointing.

I've heard the sound of Volapük and Chenevier are similar, but Les rumeurs de la ville is a complete different project, with seven professionnal musicians and seven amateurs. It's considered by Chenevier a picture of his city. In the booklet, there's all the information anyway.

It has to be separated from the Volapük entry, since none of the musicians of said band is involved in Guigou Chenevier's solo career.
If I'm not wrong, he released two solo albums in the early 80's before creating Les Batteries (The Drums) and various projects such Encore Plus Grande. In the 90's, he had released at least 3 solo albums. |

That's what I said...
I think he released an album named Le diapason du Père Ubu, but I don't know if he's released any other solo stuff, I'll have to check for that.
* I'd love to write his bio if he gets added.
EDIT: He released Le batteur est le meilleur ami du musicien, a very interesting project and Arthur et les robots, an album for children, supposedly. Edited by Tsevir Leirbag - February 21 2010 at 17:35 |

I'll try and listen to this as soon as I can.
I'm familiar with his other projects, such as Volapuk and Encore Plus Grande. The former is excellent. Especially Where is Tamashii? I also agree with Chris. I was disappointed with Ferdinand Richard's post EFL releases. |

Having heard one album from Bruniferd (Ferdinand Richard with saxophonist Bruno Meillier), I think Ferdinand is more inclined in the traditional song form than Guigou.

Well, if you think you have something to add or that can help me write the bio or if you want to write it with me as a collaboration, it would be appreciated. Edited by Tsevir Leirbag - February 22 2010 at 15:57 |
