When the Cd starts telling you to make 'em all bleed-just put Dream Theater on and make their ears bleed.Do not chop off anyone's head and stick it in a freezer ok.And dont eat brain...Dead

OK time to surprise people, I'm a huge Genesis fan (well all Gabriel and until Hackett left), but I'll vote for Love Beach for many reasons:

  1. Love Beach is a progressive album, a bad one but you can still listen that excellent ELP spirit behind all the crap.
  2. ABACAB is not Genesis, has absolutely nothing in common with early Genesis, and it's one of the worst albums ever released.
  3. Love Beach has Canario That track alone saves the album from being a total loss, some people consider Memoirs of an Officer and a Gentleman good, well I don't but still has it moments.
  4. ABACAB has Who Dunnit? Yuck Yuck Yuck  The worst piece of crap ever released.
  5. ELP plays only with ELP.
  6. Genesis plays with Earth Wind & Fire's Phoenix Horns....We're talking about Earth Wind & Fire for Gods sake!!!! The Disco-Calypso band that represents everything Prog' fought.
  7. ELP has an excuse for Love Beach, it was released just to fulfill an agreement with their record label after they had decided to split.
  8. Genesis has no excuse at all except that they sold themselves to the Musical Industry.Sick

So, I believe I gave enough fundaments for my vote even when I believe Love Beach is mostly crap in comparison with earlier ELP.

Good explanation except I still think Love Beach sucks more balls. Except the problem here is that we are choosing the lesser of the two evils it seems. We really can not compare one sh*tty album to another

Spite Genesis????  MOI???

Have you ever read my posts? Have you ever looked at my signature?

Genesis is my alltime favorite band without any doubt, but I'm a fan not deaf, I accept I hate everything after W&W but you can't hate so hard if you haven't loved before.

I can't accept what three guys (One of them not even founder) did to my favorite band, Genesis after Hackett left is nothing but a shadow of great albums as NC, Foxtrot or even W&W, but after Duke is simply repulsive for my personal taste.

Ivan, I'm just joking with you.

And you are the best type of fan and are much more tolerable than those awful ELP and Dream Theatre fans here.  At least you take an objective view of your favorite band I admire that, it makes for a much more interesting and honest discussion.

Love Beach is a great album... you guys can joke and worry about the cover as much as you want... but the album is not bad.

The first time I heard "All I Want is You"... it made me cry.  Ok, so the lyrics hit a little close to home for me... thats another story.  Luckily enough, Pete told me later that he wrote the words to that song, so I can stop crying now...

I have to admit I don't like the songs Love Beach or The Gambler.. but for the most part I love the rest of the album. That piano and acoustic guitar section (Love at First Sight) of "An Officer & a Gentleman" is just moving and beautiful to me.  But since I don't like any of Abacab... hmmm

And he looked perfect in the Bahamas...

THIS IS ELP

Well, it's not "great." It's pretty bad; man I was so disappointed when that album came out. It was like finding out there's no Santa Claus or something, except worse---that everything I was so into was some sort of joke, that ELP couldn't care less about their own f**king legacy.

Greg Lake should have been hunkering down, Fripp-style, getting his act seriously together at this point, not luxuriating his time away enjoying the fruits of past greatnes. This was a crucial turning point in his artistic life, and he blew it. That whole bullsh*t story of the record company pressuring them to do Love Beach is ridiculous. I cannot believe none of them had the presence of mind to say, "no f**king way we're going to release this to our fans." They must have been so out of touch or cynical by this point. It was and is so depressing.

I partially agree Threefates, the whole album except Canario makes me cry

I'm not going to even dare read any of the comments on this thread,so I've no idea whether it is mant to be serious or not.So I will give a serious answer:

Love Beach because it still has some prog moments.ABACAB is total excrement.

I cant imagine a prog rock album being as bad as Abacab..

I have not had the 'Love Beach' experience yet. Its only £2.00 in nearby record shop, but I refuse to buy it in case anyone sees that cover!!!! I'll have to get a copy burnt, then I'll give my final verdict, but even as a Genesis fan, Love Beach gets my vote. It is not technically possible for a band to record an album as bad as Abacab..

Although, Genesis did manage Invisible Touch, which is the only rock album that can induce nausea in me...

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

"Abacab" couldn't be worse. "Love Beach" is not a GREAT album, but it's good. In fact, it's a masterpiece if you compare it with "In the hot seat". I own all Genesis and ELP albums, and I have always liked "Love Beach".

I consider myself as a big ELP fan, but Love Beach is not quite good.

But I like the Gambler (I think I'm the only one),Canario and the 'Prologue' section of Memoirs of an Officer and a Gentlemman.

I never heard ABACAB.........

'AVACRAP' is the worst of the two, though 'Love Beach' is dire also!
