I also saw that tour in 76, but with Lynyrd Skynyrd (or however the hell you spell it) instead of GG. They were pretty good, but GG would have been way cooler.

And I must say, I just saw the current touring lineup - I was skeptical, and I certainly missed Jon, but Benoit did a really nice job. And Oliver too.

Skip the band-name when there's too many non-original members, I'd say! The should've done that allready when they did "90125" and call it "Cinema" like they first desided. "Yes" seased to exist in in 1981.

The name had to be Yes (this was a record co. decision.) Ahmet Ertegun had told Chris Squire that they also had to have a big hit single. So Cinema was hijacked, and given an established name. Almost certainly Atlantic looked at Asia and thought "Hmm, we've got the same sort of thing in our stable. let's see if we can do better." Commercially I mean.

Poor old 90125 etc. I think one must not forget that this was aband called Cinema that Rabin and Squire had created. Then Atlantic stuck their oar in and told Squire to call it Yes and make a hit.

Not sure I would call it Yes selling out as it was not Yes to begin with. 90125 is not a favourite with me whther it's Yes or Cinema - a bit too sweet to my taste. Howver it is quality AOR. Had they persisted with reliving Fragile etc the critcisms (and there will always be these) would be (I imagine) ... unable to move with the times... dinosaurs.. yadda yadda...

Yes were trapped (between fan expectation, media criticism and record company insistence) whether they adopted a smore stream lined contempoary appraoch of the highly detailed dynamic symphonic work.

P.S MasterShake... I'm sure you don't mean you "hate 90125 and all the older Yes."Just 90125 etc... 

One good thing about 90125 - it gave Yes that lease of life that no one else would allow. Even thir prock rock height (Tales) had given the audiences and critics too much of a challenge. Ten years later a different challenge and just as damning if opposite criticisms. As listeners we do have to keep our minds open...

Anyway these guys are all incredible musos and very talented writers so there's a possibility you might not like something... just not yet?
