Hi proggies,

My name's Colin, I'm from Alberta Canada. I'm in an experimental/jam band called Hobo Trashcan Fire, a psych folk band called Electric Biscuit Balloon, and a thrash metal band called 3 Men and a Baby.  Only the first of those has recorded anything.
I play guitar, sing a bit, spend all my money on gear and music.

Listen mostly to Krautrock, Space rock, Psych rock, prog-folk, eccentric prog.  Favourite prog bands are Ozric Tentacles, Amon Duul II, Can, Gentle Giant, Agitation Free, Tangerine Dream, Popol Vuh, King Crimson, Comus, Gong, Van der Graaf Generator, Magma, Weidorje, Baroness, Tomorrow (w/ Steve Howe), Jethro Tull, Nektar, Grobschnitt, Eloy, Caravan, Mastodon, Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, Caravan, Camel, The Mothers of Invention, and Iced Earth if you count them as prog metal (I do.  Dante's Inferno!)

So... Howdy.

Welcome to the site Colin.  I bolded a few favorite selections there, including both instances of Caravan.  Tongue  I'm sure you'll have fun here and find some more fun stuff to listen to along the way.

Indeed, the Zeuhl/RIO/Avant Team has introduced me to quite a lot of incredible bands I wouldn't have otherwise maybe ever heard of.

Speaking of fun stuff to listen to, I've recently obtained both albums from Tea & Symphony, now those are some interesting tunes

Looking at your last.fm info, I can't believe I forgot Faust on my list.  They're pretty much what got me into Krautrock

Yeah, Faust rocks.  Basically everything I've heard from Krautrock is incredible.

I'm already on too many different forums, and I can see this one is going to eat up tons of time.

By the way, anyone here do any work with building custom guitar effects pedals?

I thought all prog is a bit eccentric. Tongue

er... I meant mostly King Crimson, Gnidrolog, Gentle Giant, that style of bands.  I've been calling Fripp's work "eccentric prog" since I first heard schizoid man

I personally mailed Gnidrolog with something like this: "REUNION NOWWWWWW!!!!1!!!!!", but that didn't work LOL

Nice to see another Giant fan here Big smile

As far as I know, in comparison to King Crimson, there IS a shortage of Giant fans LOL

You're more than welcome here, but you should start your own thread, not start one in the middle of HCTF's Tongue
