Topic: X-Japan Posted: April 27 2010 at 14:04 |
I was curious to find out peoples thoughts on whether X-Japan should be included on this site. People who are unfamiliar with the band should check out the song/album Art of Life on Youtube. I personally am undecided. Take that song for example, It is 30 mins long (a typical prog feature!) and contains multiple themes, sections, emotions (again very proggy). However the music itself is more power metal than prog imo, with (generally) straightforward time sigs etc. Anyway, anyone have an opinion? and is this in the right place for this topic?

They're an excellent band, but I wouldn't say they belong here at all.

X Japan are one of my most favourite bands, but I don't think they belong here.

They're not prog ... at all. Apart from the early speed metal period they are mostly a ballad driven band. Another visualkei band, Buck Tick, were a lot more experimental ... and recommended!
