I drop the YouTube videoclip posted by you ...

A good pop rock, but not progressive ... sorry but this videoclip should not be fit for Progarchives, IMHO. Smile
Another progressive stuff do you have?

sorry the wiki link got messed up.

Here it is again.

In the wiki link, they suggested progresive pop.
-------------start paste-------------
Strange Advance was a Canadian New Wave band formed in 1982 from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Their music was a fusion of progressive rock and new wave. The band's signature sound combined highly synthesized melody, driving rhythm, and space opera themes.
-------------end paste-------------

I enjoy many bands that are progresive (including king crimson, old genesis, steve hacket, peter gabriel, yes, elp, mike oldfield, floyd and gentle giant (never got into tull though).

I feel' strange advance' fits (as I have always grouped them with the above in my mind).

If you listen to their singles, you may agree.

Rgds,

Randy

So they have some more samples available somewhere for a more consistent listen?

The only place I can find tracks is on youtube. If you ignore the video you can get a 'feel' for the music.

after reviewing the songs, I think only a few (the ones I remember) are worthy. she runs and worlds away.

I'm also a  Vancouverite -- go Canucks gone! :( -- and the name is vaguely familiar, but from what little I've now heard, I don't hear it as progressive rock and I wouldn't see it in Prog Related either..

This is an album based site, not just individual tracks, and unless there is at least one album that fits, I definitely wouldn't see it here.

Check out the track Worlds Away , a masterful mellotron (which they use fairly often) anthem that sparkles and shines! An amazing track!
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Yep, "Worlds Away" is good (I like the Vangelis and Numan-esque qualities).

To me Strange Advance is a New-Wave/Electro-pop group.

I did some google searches and found references that stated new wave/prog rock.

They did have some instrumental compositions and a few songs that sounded prog (with a lot of synth) but most were new wave.

I don't know how many prog tracks would warrant inclusion as a fringe prog rock classification.

In my opion, these tracks (from the album 'Over 60 minutes with Strange Advance') may qualify:

World's Away
Reprise: World's Away (instrumental)
We Run
We Run [Advanced Mix] (instrumental)
Home of the Brave.
Prelude (instrumental)
Running Away

There are 16 tracks on this 'best of' album and I really like all of them (and they fill my prog rock appetite but so does moby).

I have appreciated all your posts and views on this.

I am very impressed with this site. It contains much information on the 'stuff' I love. I am surprised how many of my vinyl and cds are progressive.

I will be going through this site in depth (when I get time).

RYM describes them as synth pop... which I find very apt a description
