Amazing vocalist, the band "Heaven and Hell" has been rated by many as amongst the best heavy metal albums of all times.  One of my favorites.   I saw his live show in Minneapolis about 1989, when Geezer joined him onstage (the beginning of what would become Heaven & Hell, the band).

RIP, Ronnie, and thanks for the very cool music & lyrics!

This cat was in bands since the late 1950's, check out his Wikiepedia bio:

Rest in peace master! One of the greatest metal vocalists, rock vocalists, vocalists of all time. A little guy with  gigantic voice, who overpowered mammoths much bigger than him. RIP Ronnie James Dio! CryRawks

And this, metal's universal sign, was his idea (adapted from the Italian sign for "malochio" -evil eye-). We will always carry his torch in concerts whenever we do the metal sign.

I will truly miss this gifted singer, songwriter and all around cool guy. Dido to whoever said a great loss for music as a whole. truly one of the greatest voices ever. His work with Rainbow, Black Sabbath and solo career contained some really good albums.

Remember "love is all". (And maybe ELF but I don't know this band at all).

Seriously I hope all music lovers (not only metalheads) admire his UNIQUE voice.

Sheeyit. I just got back from church, turned on the news, and this is what greeted me. What a shame; I, like so many others, had no idea that he was ill. RIP Mr. Dio, thanks for the music.

Shocking news, I hadn't realised he was that ill. One of the all time great rock vocalists.

Oh my god, I didn't know he was sick.   One of the most reliable hard rockers, especially in mid-80s when metal seemed to be on its last legs, those first two Dio albums were a bright spot after Randy Rhoads had died and the NWoBHM was coming to a close.  Saw him with Sabbath for Mob Rules, in 1983 for Holy Diver, again in '84 for The Last in Line and then the small Angry Machines tour.

RIP
