Panopticon is the most classic Isis album but many here seem to prefer their last album Wavering Radiant, which is a bit more colourful. I am one of them.

Oceanic and Panopticon are their two best works IMO.
But that being said, the band put our nothing but good albums IMO. |

I highly recommend Panopticon as a post-metal classic.
I would also get Wavering Radiant, as the album is the best depiction of what ISIS' sound is, even if I don't feel it's their best. Oceanic is a little more reminiscent of their older material (a little more post-hardcore, grindcore sounds), but it is still an excellent. In The Absence of Truth is only an average album, but it does have my top 2 ISIS tracks on it ("Wrists of Kings" and "Dulcinea".) To be honest, you can't really go wrong with anything post-Celestial.

Get Wavering Radiant if you like this:
The best I've heard from them. |

Panoptican and Wavering Radient are musts. Oceanic and In the Absence of Truth are good but dont match the first two I mentioned. I find Celestial OK but besides the title track nothing special.

Thanks to everyone for their input. Looks like i'm going pick up Panopticon first, and if that goes well Wavering Radiant will be next.

listening to celestial right now.
i am still new to the band but it sounds great. maybe a bit strange with the vocals though.... he seems very, very, groaning and naging, nearly too much sometimes, but it is ok.

If you like that you'll definitely like the rest of their output....go with Oceanic next. |
