Yeah, this is why I shall do it! I dont care how disjointed or flat out terrible it may end up. If I do this, I want it included on this site WITH my own genre which would be "omni" |

Jesus Christ, don't link directly to ED, are you insane?
Also, I've never been able to figure out what post-jazz and post-minimalism meant.

I tried to explain post-jazz once by editing a saxophone onto a fence post once. And I thought the same thing about linking to ED. |

Wizard Rock (which may or may not be the same thing as the Wizardcore Joel posted a while ago) is literally music based around the Harry Potter universe.

Well there is a Wizard Rock used to refer to the trend in the 70s for rock bands that sang about wizards and dragons and pieces of gold and all that sort of thing, though it's a lyrical thing rather than a musical thing. Wizardcore is a neologism that specifically refers to this Harry Potter thing. |

Another intriguing little lyric based genre is Horrorcore. It's a rap sub-genre where you simply attempt to be as offensive as possible which is saying something given how offensive some normal rap lyrics are. If you think some of that satanic/porn/violence metal can have nasty lyrics, well in horrorcore not only can you make out what they're saying but the lyrical density of rap means you say a lot more of it.

There's also Twi-Rock, based around Twilight.
Nobody mentioned Harsh Noise. I haven't heard any but it's an awesome genre name. I want to mix Powerviolence, Harsh Noise, and Deathcore and make the ultimate "annoy your mom" music.

I used to refer to that type of music as "granny scaring music" but I don't think it took off as a genre name.
See also something like "dad rock" which is a commonly used term to refer to complacent rock from bands who were big 10-20 years ago but is perhaps not actually a genre.

I thought I once read about a genre, which I thought was called horrorcore, that was like extreme DnB/Jungle but with samples from horror movies, so it's darker than your typical extreme beat electronica. At the time I thought that was stupid, but now I can't find it on AMG so maybe I imagined it. It certainly makes more sense, to me anyway, for some electronic music to be called horrorcore instead of the Insane Clown Posse.
Dad rock is an insult, I'm pretty sure that doesn't count. :P |
