Should have more votes here. I'll go for the obvious, The Human Equation.

I think my favorite is probably Into the Electric Castle, though the Human Equation and 01011001 are all five stars in my book.  Electric Castle has the best music, but Human Equation would have won if we were talking about best lineup of musicians.

01011001 is just ... oh god.
The Sixth Extinction, f**k, its too good.
Plus, in this album you get to (loosely) understand what's all the story's about (kind of).

I'll be boring and unoriginal and pick The Human Equation.

I still need to hear Into the Electric Castle. I'm rather intrigued to hear Tijs Vans Leer and Sharon Den Adel contibutions to the album.

01011001 is the only Ayreon I've heard on my voyages through the Internet progressive radio ether - and I thought that was darned good!  So, Ayreon is on my (considerable!) list of bands into whom I must delve more deeply ...

01011001 is my favourite. Some say it is overblown (but hey, it IS Ayreon we're talking about) and exhausting, but I love it. There are some breathtaking melodies on that one that I never tire of. (Floor Jansen on "Liquid Eternity" and Anneke on everything she sings on - love those gals!) - I know it has its elements of cheese here and there, but I don't have a big problem with that in the first place, as long as it's not overboard.

I also adore Electric Castle, both Universal Migrators and Star One/Guilt Machine.

I've always been somewhat baffled as to why The Human Equation is so highly rated and always wins polls. There are a handful of killer tracks, for sure ("Isolation", "Mystery", "Hope", "Love", "Realization"...) but a lot of the other tracks either don't do anything for me, or are instant-skipper tracks altogether ("School" for instance). I suspect the inclusion of LaBrie and/or Akerfeldt scores the album a few more points with some people. I love those guys too... it's the songs on this one that just don't hold a candle to the ones on Electric Castle/Universal Migrator(s)/01011001, IMO.

01011001 is my favorite, mostly because I like the cast of vocalists the most on that one. Every Ayreon album I've heard is really great, though.

01011001.  It's a very close call between this and The Human Equation and, honestly, the debut.  Some amazing storytelling on The Final Experiment, but it looses points for disabilityfail on the 'wah, why can't I see?' song.

01011001 is, quite honestly, the best sci-fi story Arjen has told so far.  I'm really looking forward to future releases.

I'm gonna have to go with the Human Equation. I've heard a fair few of his, and while all of them were brilliant, The Human Equation's more down-to-earth storyline made the whole thing far more accessible to me. I felt easily able to connect with Me, and I really felt his plight. This was one of the first times I really got a concept album like this. That, and all of the music was performed perfectly.
