I think that RIO/Avant Prog, Post/Math Rock or Cantenbury Scene are certainly hotbed of various weirdest names. Who´s your favourite one?

Now I'm used to it, but when I first saw Godspeed You! Black Emperor as a band name, I thought it was pretty dubious.

Algarnas Tradgard was an old Swedish band and while their name, which means "moose garden," is pretty odd in itself, they are probably best known for a quite spacey album that features what must be the most fantastic title of all time.  Translated, it means "the future is a hovering ship, anchored in the past."  There's a title track.

On a more related note, they may not be prog, but I always thought the strangest name for ANY band was And They Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead.

It's spelled Älgarnas Trädgård and translates to: The Garden of the Mooses or The Mooses Garden. Moose Garden would be more like this: Älgträdgården.

Great name, Great band, two Great albums - severely underated.  Surprisingly they are not in the Prog Archives.
