Topic: Gazpacho vs. Phideaux Posted: August 22 2010 at 12:24 |
Between these two X-over bands, which one is more progressive and is a better band? If possible just base your decision off of their two most recent albums, all of which are their most highly rated! Please vote and comment as to why you voted the way you did!

So in a given situation, being more "progressive" automatically makes 'band A' better than 'band B' ?
And, I won't vote for either as I haven't heard enough material.

Yes, I must say I don't care for question.
I'd rather listen to a decent, 3-chord song than 20 minutes of progressive rubbish.

well, i guess my point is, on this website, the more progressive the material, the higher rating it should recieve. thus it is better in that sense. but i do agree with the point that better can also mean more enjoyable to the listener, which is not what I meant for this poll. However I didn't think of that and I agree that the question should be changed to simply, which band is just "more progressive." That is my mistake! Thank you for the comments!

I don't think either band is really more progressive than the other, they are both progressive in different ways. Tick Tock and Number Seven both are top albums of mine from 2009, and I would also say that Doomsday Afternoon and Night are top albums of 2007 (although I've heard a lot less from that year). I think Doomsday Afternoon is the best of the bunch though, so my vote will go to Phideaux.

I like both bands, no vote. Night and Doomsday are both superb, taking longer for me to get into Tick Tock and haven't heard the new Gazpacho. kenmar

Love both bands, but Phideaux is one of the greatest modern prog acts we have.

I like Gazpacho, but Phideaux latest two albums absolutely blow me away. Number 7 especially. Waiting for The Axe to Fall could be an album all by itself (though a short one ).

Both are great. I like Gazpacho more. Tick Tock and Night are huge favourites.

I've seen both pretty recently and I think that Phideaux just edges it for me.

While I like both bands, Phideaux is in my opinion much better. Number Seven is just so wonderful!

Phideaux is boring and continued to not move me in anyway. Gazpacho is one of my favorites, but I prefer their releases of March of Ghosts and MA. They shine in shorter songs IMO.
