Folk songs you love...

Please check youtube, or some such service, so that, hopefully, you can share the song with others (we can hear what you're talking about).

I'll start with Vashti Bunyan's "Winter is Blue":

I love a lot of folk song, but today I was listening to The Pogues' version of Dirty Old Town, so... here's the Dubliners.



And since an actual video is a little more interesting to watch... (although, as much as I love Shane, he hasn't go got Ronnie's voice )

^ Agreed, and it's not a very consistent album.  It does get weaker on the B side.  I like "Boulders on My Grave", though

I've wondered if Abba was influenced by Mellow Candle ( it's mostly the female singer duo qualities that gave me that thought in some tracks). 

Mellow Candle's Swaddling Songs is good, Virgin Prophet not so much, but would be of interest to those who like Swaddlng Songs to hear earlier versions of certain material and some good formerly unreleased early material.
