Please check youtube, or some such service, so that, hopefully, you can share the song with others (we can hear what you're talking about).

I'll start with Vashti Bunyan's "Winter is Blue":

I love a lot of folk song, but today I was listening to The Pogues' version of Dirty Old Town, so... here's the Dubliners.

And since an actual video is a little more interesting to watch... (although, as much as I love Shane, he hasn't go got Ronnie's voice Heart)

Darn it Logan, I can't think of any better than Vashti that aren't psychedelic or prog-folk

Dan Andrei Aldea of Sfinx:

Ada Milea with some dark satire (and with the violonist Alexander Balanescu if I'm not wrong):

And with some lighter satire (and in English)

I''ve got some listening to do. ^ Mellow Candle's Swaddling Songs is one of the few albums in my collection that my wife loves, and features my daughter's favourite song.  I really like "Heaven heath" too.  This is the one that got me into Mellow Candle.

^ Agreed, and it's not a very consistent album.  It does get weaker on the B side.  I like "Boulders on My Grave", though

I've wondered if Abba was influenced by Mellow Candle ( it's mostly the female singer duo qualities that gave me that thought in some tracks).

Mellow Candle's Swaddling Songs is good, Virgin Prophet not so much, but would be of interest to those who like Swaddlng Songs to hear earlier versions of certain material and some good formerly unreleased early material.

This is one of my favourites from Swadding Songs:

I think these guys are on the site but I don't view them as very progressive:

One of my favourite modern bands has recently become Fleet Foxes, they're incredibly amazing:

Most of their output (an album and an EP) can be found on YouTube.

Also, because I mentioned him the Fleet Foxes, a friend showed me a few videos of Neil Young from around 1972 I think. The similarity was obvious, I really need to check him too.

I'm enjoying Fleet Foxes, thanks. I'd heard some material before.

As for ISB, I love the band, and think them very progressive.  I think it's one of the most important bands included in Prog Folk (and is a favourite of mine along with Pentangle, Spirogyra, Comus, Jan Dukes de Grey, Forest etc.)

This is one of my particular faves:
