Topic: maudlin of the Well vs. ISIS vs. Mastodon Posted: October 27 2010 at 12:16 |
These bands all seem somewhat similar. Which is your favorite?
I won't vote, as I haven't listened to much ISIS.

I haven't really been able to get into MotW but I respect them. Mastodon and Isis are both excellent but I'd have to say Mastodon by a hair.

Impossible poll is impossible, but I'll lean towards Isis. Goddamn, motW is insanely good however. Mastodon are pretty handy too.

maudlin of the Well, but I dont find much in common between these three bands (avant metal vs post metal vs sludge metal).

I think secretly Walter loves all three and so can't find it in himself to vote.
That said, it is a very difficult choice, went for Mastodon though because I'd rather listen to Crack the Skye over any of the other albums by any of the three

Not even somewhat similar? They can all get pretty sludgy and spacey ... also, the vocals can be growly at times with all 3 bands. I didn't say they were exactly the same, or even very similar.
