Spinal Tap has a song called Stonehenge which really calls to mind this subject but maybe not specifically goblins and fairies I guess. Plus its supposed to be satire, but its one of their best songs.

Some stuff by Genesis also comes to mind, Lady Lies, Lillywhite Lilith, The Lamia, Trick of A Tail (especially actually)...

There is stuff by Uriah Heep too that I think has goblins, or at least Abomanogs.

This is not prog, but I really like it, Haggard's "Herr Mannelig". It is a traditional scandinavian folk song, played in a metal way. Though, for some weird reason, the band decided to sing this one in italian. It is one of the very few songs this band sings without growling. And it's about a Troll woman who falls in love with a human, whom is Herr Mannelig.

Stretching the definition a bit, there's a nice ambitious piece called 'All in the golden afternoon' by a rock composer called Ian Neal - it's based in his reflections on the 'Alice' books, rather than traditional faerie lore.

Thank you SO MUCH for this tip. I've listened to it and this just what I was looking for. It's one of the finest pieces of music that I've listened to in a long time. It has traditional folk roots but it's progressive and very atmospheric at the same time. I wish I could find more music like this...

Ange is pretty good band and in Au Dela du Délire they talk about demons and goblins. It's also a little bit medievaly influenced.

Well,...it's about time someone mentions this band? It doesn't seem to happen all that often? Does that mean they suck?.........LOL Only kidding! BTW,  since you went the distance and recommended Ange, may I ask, what planet are you from? and am I welcome to visit there? "Au Dela du Delire"  has been reviewed many times but, is hardly mentioned by those who put emphasis on Yes and Genesis. Don't go there right? Okay! enough said!

I would like to add a 3rd or fourth time that GOBLIN....Profondo Rosso is a must! A must! It figures that a thread revolving around the subject matter of faerie and goblin interests would be the only way to bring fans of underground bands out of the woodwork? Isn't that ironic? Now we should post threads on the importance of bands like these just as many do with the big 5 or 6.
