Okay, so I just stuck this album on, and I was inspired to make a simple poll asking about all of the songs. But then I realized that Echoes would obviously dominate, and for good reason. So I decided to omit the Floyd's third-longest song. Which is your favourite, PA?
For me, it's One Of These Days. It may involve only a single bass note, but it rocks hard. Of course, if you actually prefer your choice to Echoes, do say so. I'm interested to see that as well.

A Pillow Of Winds, which I consider to be a beautiful and perhaps overlooked song.

What!? From wikipedia: ..."and features double-tracked bass guitars played by David Gilmour and Roger Waters. Waters' bass is panned hard left with Gilmour's fading into the right channel." Also, I voted for the same song. |

One of these days for sure, but also Pillow of Winds is perfect. Saint Tropez is the one to skip. |

Well, it is a thoroughly layered bass note played many times, but it's still one note. ...Wait, they do switch to another note briefly. That's still only two notes! Not that the song isn't still amazing- if anything, the fact that they made something as awesome as One Of These Days using just two notes on the bass makes it even more awesome.

One of These Days. Today, it would have gotten my vote even if Echoes had been an option, though that would be subject to change.

Meddle in order
Echoes
One of these days
seamus
san tropez
fearless
a pillow of winds
Echoes and One of these days are fantastic.
Seamus and San Tropez are fun songs. Good for what they are.
fearless is OK and a pillow of winds is a skip. Don't like DG's guitar on that song. About the only song in their canon that I can say that. |

Fearless, though all are close, Meddle is one of my absolute faves.

My periodic craving for Pillow of Winds is usually the only reason I play Meddle.

Definitely One of These Days. The rest is basically filler, as far as I'm concerned.

Seamus the dog with zero votes, ouch.
I absolutely adore the song One Of These Days, the rest to me seem to be kind of average PF.

Definitely One Of These Days. I've always had a very complicated relationship with Meddle...OoTD and Echoes are pure, unadulterated genius, but everything else feels extraneous. Pillow of Winds is a pretty decent track, but Fearless is - easily - my least favorite Floyd track of all time. It does less than nothing for me. As for Seamus and San Tropez...they don't feel like dedicated songs. A little filler, fleshing out an album that should have been composed of three tracks.
C'mon. They could totally have stretched One Of These Days into a side-long track... |

One of these days was bound to win this poll from the beginning; that's my vote by the way. For me this and Echoes are the only great songs on this album, but A Pillow of Winds and Fearless are somewhat OK for me too.
