Leprous kick arse. I especially like the way they seamlessly combine odd time, dramatic vocal styles and crushing death metal sections. He Will Kill Again is my favourite from the album, although they're all good.

They are a nice band, but the whining really annoys me. So, music = 10/10, whiny lyrics 0/10. They seriously need some (or a truckful of) anti-depressives.

Tall Poppy Syndrome is one of my favourite albums of the last few years; I was listening to it again on the way to work this morning. There's something original about it that stands out, especially the seamless time changes and variety of musical styles influencing their music.
Interesting the last comment on their vocals - I actually find that's one of the best parts of the band - the variety in the vocals, from strong singing to melodic, low pitch death growls (few of) and high pitch/scream type - fantastic! If you want to hear depressive listen to Agalloch or something!

Also forgot to mention the excellent use of keyboards - not intrusive but essential to all the songs, plus some of the excellent choruses that stick in your head.

Excellent band, brilliant album.
And lyrics are better ignored in all metal bands so I don't see how that could be an issue with Leprous.

They sound a little bit like Opeth, Pain of Salvation, Wobbler, Devin Townsend, Beardfish, and Gentle Giant...don't they?
