I haven't listened to ELP in over a year, and yet this just made me put on the Welcome Back My Friends live album. That's how you know it's great, it got me out of a musical rut. Clap

Love the simplicity, less is more with this one

Most amusing! A 3LP set full of long pieces (called pretentiousWink once - who'd've thought!) is now regarded as "less is more." LOL

It's a great album and one I also like very much-  but I never thought I'd find (of all bands either ...) it described as less is more. Simplicity?? You mean like one can play along with it and pick up the tunes?

This IS WBMFTTSTNE by ELP under discussion? ShockedBig smile

I was stunned at how great that live album sounds. It actually is good enough to be a one off album for a non-Elp fan to showcase the brilliance of the group.

Terrific collage. Y'know it's been many years since I wanted to buy Love Beach. Two thingas put me off. The cover and the reputation. I suppose if there's a remaster I'd buy that for a dollar. Still think Works would have been better off without CP's jams and Lakes awful ballads. Works 2 I always and still like better... The rest before them are great albums but they lost their momentum and never got it back. The endless compilations and dodgy live albums (disguised re-offerings of WElcome Back My Friends) are not good ideas.

Yet when ELP are playing the on form stuff they are unbeatable. The first album is mindblowingly beautiful. All that piano.... I do lika Tarkus going over Love Beach... email it to ELP and see what they say. They should use it for some art work somewhere.

Anyway another great collage. Thank you.
Its interesting about those poorer Elp albums. If you put them on after a long break they have an endearing quality. But In The Hot Seat is maddeningly dismal in any frame of mind! I put it on a few times hoping that something would jump out as a great song - EPIC FAIL!

Love Beach has a fabulous bad reputation therefore is essential listening! The reviews are worth bottling, along with any other stinker in the prog universe. These albums have to exist so we can see just how awesome the other albums are.... Put on Love Beach first 3 songs, then play first 3 songs of the debut album - They are in alternate mirror universes!

I have a blind spot of certain albums... Open Your Eyes by Yes and ELP's Love Beach are two... reputation counts (your opinions!) and I don't need my collection to have notably awful albums hogging precious space no matter which mighty ones recorded it.

I mean when an ELP collage is made and it's disparaging an ELP LP one really has to take notice. ELP do make pretty fine concert albums though. Something to do with being great performers...

The ELP collage is also reacting to popular opinion. Love Beach is one album deserved of destruction from the great Tarkus. Its common knowledge that Love Beach is to be avoided. But Open Your Eyes perhaps is not as low as that, in fact I like some of that album as do others here in general.

Thank you ! landoflein and Uduwudu.!Embarrassed
Yeah, I said that many times that my collages are pure tribute to the band and I am hoping to encourage people and fans ( as my self) to re-discover or revisited them all over again. I always do every time I start doing a colloge. I want to interpret the sound with collages.
Speaking about Love Beach. It isn't that I hate the album. I remember the first I heard it I liked it more than I like it now. I  was very young and ELP was one my fav bands at the time and listening to this album that no nobody had  mentioned  before. that t was so strange. I even thought it twas album that was never came out officially  or that it was made in the Caribbean judging the album cover so horrible!. comparing with the quiet awesome early albums covers. I thought it was a joke!.
I gave a another try years later and I couldn't listen to the whole thing .. too boring. but I don't hate it. it is ELP regardless  how bad it is and it is  the beautiful voice of Greg Lake.
