I'm 17 and initally a classic rock and punk rock fan. the ultimate band for me is The Who and always will be. but they brought me to bands like pink floyd, genesis, gentle giant, frank zappa. but i still get as much a kick out of them as the clash the stooges and the ramones. bands like The Flaming Lips today are a combo of the prog and punk i love. i guess i'm not into a specific genre, it's just powerful music

I'm 18, and I've been listening to prog rock (starting out with Genesis, Yes, Floyd and King Crimson) since I was 10. I guess it's easier for some to connect to this genre via metal, however, I don't like metal Ouch.

I'm 15 i just saw ASIA with all its original members Carl palmer had a drum solo that shook the room and watching Steve Howe play acoustic is too cool. Also, John Wetton's voice hasn't changed

I am at present sixteen years old and my favorite guitarist is Alex Lifeson. I also love the sounds of Nurcery Cryme and Mirage by Camel. I own a copy of Mirage, the Six Wives of Henry VIII, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer's debut.

Just turned 17 last month. Favourite bands: old Genesis, Marillion. I also find Rush and Pendragon pretty good too. Like other people said, prog metal is not a favourite genre of mine. :)

I'm 14 and I definitely enjoy classic prog more. I do love some newer stuff, but prog-metal isn't anywhere near my favorites.

For example... I really enjoy the first few albums by Opeth, but the more recent ones I find boring, same thing for Symphony X, and Queensryche (their last few albums were shameful). Not to mention the metalcore influence on the newer bands, especially the "djent" subgenre. There are still some very cool bands out there, though. Vektor and Enslaved being the first that come to mind.

Your absolutely right about QUEENSRŸCHE. Haven't produced a good album since PROMISE LAND and I don't think you gotta be younger than 18 to figure that one out. 'Shameful' is indeed the correct word

Thanks, thought i'd turn it into a bumper sticker and put it on my car. Cafe Press would make so much money off of that one.

If you're under the age of eighteen and you say you listen to anything that isn't deathcore and Gangnam Style you are a BOLD. FACED. LIAR.

I'm 300 and only listen to J.S. Bach, my nephew's son is 250 and listens to L.v. Beethoven all night long - that bloody noise is going to make him go deaf one day.
What?
