Suspend all additions to prog-related indefinitely.

That's my opinion and I think we should have done it 3 years ago.

Just listened to him this week- seems more like goth-pop-rock to me. Is that even a genre?

Bring him in; he's actually made forward-thinking music. Then, remove ALL post-89 hacks who have never done anything except defile the art form once known as music.

I'll give him this: he's a great industrial artist. Maybe he's related to a relation to prog related, but his addition imo would be a long shot.

^^^ a long shot... but still a shot!

Numan is related to many styles - pioneer of techno, pioneer of dark synth tracks, pioneer of NIN Industrial style. His influence is huge. too many write him off as a one hit wonder with Cars. He is not doing any Cars-style or  related songs now. Check out his DVDs I have them - they are very dark and NIN like. NIN are here. Numan himself would want to be here.

i have emailed Numan on his website and I will tell you what he says.

"Dear Mr Numan. We are wondering on the progarchives website, is your music progressive, if so would that mean you should be added to the progarchives as an artist. Or are you more prog related. What is your opinion on the type of music you play. NIN are on the archives too just to let you know. If you talk to Trent Reznor can you ask him too? Ask what he thinks about being added to progarchives as an artist. i will pass all information to the administrators on a thread when you respond. Thanks"

...by "latest album" don't you mean "last album"? (Jagged)

He hasn't released anything new in four years.
What?

Oh you are right there, after Jagged he has released esp live a lot of songs yet to be released, on his website they are available just to listen to. Here

a song called CRAWL is there

and

John Foxx said this about him on myspace

"but Gary also opened up the gates of a new kind of non-format pop music - commercially successful slabs of dark metallic stuff that connected instantly to an entire generation. He altered the way that generation - and all the ensuing ones - listened to singles. Made it possible to have much darker, more adventurous and imaginative things going out there. That was his real success for me. We all owe him a huge debt for that, too." -- JOHN FOXX

^ Industrial is another good description. He makes a worthy case for sure.

Hmm, I always seem to forget that the Experimental/Post-metal genre is on here. He would fit much better into that. Maybe related to experimental, rather than being related to being related to prog related Big smile
