R.I.P. - he will be missed. Cry

This is horrible news. A true artist in music and in painting.

Good enough.

Also, I think this might be a little offensive (and done very poorly and quickly) but:

Oh sh*t. :( Unlike many of my avant colleagues I was never much of a fan, but he was a rare creative force. I wish he hadn't abandoned music for painting in the '80s.

I only hope he went out making love to a vampire with a monkey on his knee.

My first encounter was Bongo Fury, which also happened to be my first Zappa album.  He added a really nice weird element to the album.  I really like Doc At The Radar Station the best.  I've had a copy of Trout Mask, but still can't get into that one.  I got the debut Safe As Milk most recently and really liked it, too.

I put this one on:

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I feel kinda guilty for saying this, but sometimes its an artist's death that will remind me to investigate that person's body of work. I've known about the Captain most of my life, but never bothered to listen.  Now I'm curious to hear what I've been missing.

Hi,

Yeah ... it is sad indeed.

In this day and age of nothing but commerciality, folks like him and Frank ... are so needed ...

I really can't blame him for telling music where to stuff it ... and show that one lives for the art of it all ... not anything else!

Edited by moshkito - December 17 2010 at 19:28
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
