Topic: Best/worst use of prog music in a commercial Posted: January 05 2011 at 16:25
I've seen an awful lot of commercials lately that use prog songs to project nostalgia. I think it would be cool to have a thread that collects the best (and worst) uses of prog music in television ads.
Interesting thread! This video is a blasphemy.A great gig in the sky for a banana(ok,the company is good)?I don't like when good music is used for shopping reasons.

Here's an old one to start the ball rolling....
I don't think that was released to the world of television. More than likely it was another one of those things, or pieces that Storm did (Hipgnosis) and kept aside for a joke! That humor is very much in keeping with Hipgnosis' style.
In the book "The Album Cover" book, there are many goodies in there, although Storm does not talk about film, and he probably should, but that would likely be another whole book! If you ever get that, you must check out the original cover for "Animals" ... it's one of the reasons why I think that PF was not happy with having to do different material right after DSOTM, although it was not bad at all ... let the truth out ... and see it! ... ooopppsss ... can't do that ... will just call it "art ducko"!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told! www.pedrosena.com

Some classic Yes was used for a TV spot a year or two ago, but I can't place either the tune or the company being advertised (it might have been a bank or credit card). All I know was it made me feel old, and it wasn't very uplifting. And it seemed like a sell-out at the time. Anyone else see it?
