Obviously the word obscure will mean different things to different people, but what are your favorite obscure prog albums from the 1970's? In this context of obscure, I mean none of the major 5 (Floyd, Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Tull, and/or ELP) or second tier (Gentle Giant, Camel, VDGG, PFM, Magma, and the like) or bands that are highly revered and popular in general such as Frank Zappa, Miles Davis, Santana, Radiohead, Kraftwerk, etc, etc, etc.

I love Univers Zero, Il Balleto di Bronzo, Jacula, Esperanto, Flasket Brinner, Trettioariga Kriget, and plenty of others. Please share!

Geinoh Yamashirogumi, Cluster/Kluster, Far East Family Band (check out the album Parallel World), A.R. & Machines, Heldon (are they obscure enough?), Julian Priester, Kraan, Organisation (almost Kraftwerk, but not quite Wink), Satoh Masahiko and the Soundbreakers

Oh, albums?  Probably some stuff by them and others, but these are some of the more obscure groups I could think of at the moment.

Gnidrolog probably isn't really so much obscure around here, but I do remember recently seeing a facebook group called "I bet I can find 8 people that own In Spite of Harry's Toe-Nail"

OK, here's my 5 for tonight.  Enjoy my friends...Beer

Surprise - wonderful lost symph band with great concept album

Gotic - from Spain, warm instrumental music, symph/fusion

Mario Cottarelli - here's a nice album that deserves more than my one review!  Cheating a little because the album was recorded recently, but the composition was written in 1975 as i recall.  It has the spirit of 70s symph but with the production of today.

Paradiso a Basso Prezzo - here's a relic for those who like the wild RPI, plenty of Zappa/VDGG influence as I recall.  The sound quality kinda sucks by todays standards but the music is cool.  I have an extensive review here for those interested in this rarity.

Alphataurus - not totally obscure, but a real gem not too well known outside of RPI circles.

TOTALLY!

(Sorry ... can't have it ... it's not london sounding and is way too weird and funky and has a chick doing weird things and having an orgasm (with applause I might add!) in it, that ... prevents it from being progressive!) LOL  Wink  Tongue  Smile

The Pink Mice is the Symphonic version of Lucifer's Friend (Heavy Prog band in the vein of Uriah Heep), as a fact both have the same formation except that they didn't included John Lawton in The Pink Mice.

Their albums have a sound similar to Triumvirat , but only play Prog versions of clasicc composers (more or less like Fireballet).

I recommend their debut "In Action", because their second album "In Synthesizer" is less original.

I'd have to say my current favorites from that glorious time are of the Surrey school; Morgan Fisher, David Greenslade, Quatermass, Dave Lawson
