We are talking Prog here.

"Sea Shanties" happens to be prog; High Tide is a prog band.and not prog-related.

You don't consider this to be prog, Ian?

If one were to use this timeline http://www.progressiverock.com/1969.php (which is what I based using Ummagumma as a possible next chronologically), then Joy of a Toy follows Ummagumma, and then Renaissance is next.

If, hypethetically, In the Court of the Crimson King, was the first Prog album (I don't belive it was), then for that to be the second might require some intense temporal dynamics.

This is undoubtably true - but since there were albums of a prog nature issued prior to ITCOTCK then we must assume we are cherrypicking from the chronology albums that could be shoe-horned into the Court shoes.

^I´m especially looking forward to the look-a-like polls following this - like what was the 14th prog record or maybe the 23.

Ah, I begin to see how it works. If an album is a prog album it is by definition later than ITCOTCK; it it happens to be earlier it doesn't count. You can't win against a myth.

That's the premise of the OP -  "If In The Court is the first Prog album......"  ... it's not about winning against the myth, but more about testing the hypothesis.Big smile

Me too. But now it sounds like an early April Fool joke.
Oops... please forget what I said. I don't want to put ideas in peoples heads. Like to be tricked into a Genesis-reforming-with-Hackett-and-Gabriel kind of thread LOL

Ah, but from a wrong premise ANY conclusion may be drawn, and the whole statement still remains true, as any logician knows. So "If ITCOTCK is the first prog album then "Love Beach" by ELP is the best".
