For the first four albums in particular, Tangerine Dream by a light year. I wonder why they aren't rated higher?

Oldfield has also done some pretty uninspired stuff as well like Islands and just about everything after Tres Lunas.
This is a particlularly hard poll as I love both artists. 5 star albums?:
TD
Ricochet
Force Majeure
Tangram
Pergamon
Poland
Purgatorio
MO
Hergest Ridge
Ommadawn
Incantations
Amarok
Songs Of Distant Earth
TD it is by 6-5!

Tangerine Dream without a doubt. There's only one Mike Oldfield album I find listenable throughout.

TD completely loses me after the mid-80s. Oldfield has released some sub-par material as well, but he did return to form in more recent releases. Also, the very earliest TD releases either bore or annoy me, whereas the earliest Oldfield is stellar.

I would agree if it's the Froese,Franke and Baumann lineup of TD. |

Oldfield. Much more lively music from him. Especially his '70s records.

Can't get into TD (yet?) but I love Oldfield's early albums, plus some of his later stuff, so it's the Mike - man.
