Pawn Hearts. It's up there with "Close To The Edge" as one of the most perfectly constructed albums of all time. A beautiful and mindblowing experience from beginning to end.
There's a reason they played "Lemmings" for their very first on-stage reunion. And why at least half the album appears in their setlist for any given concert.
Their other albums are great too, but Pawn Hearts just holds up as something incredibly timeless. |
Well said, thank you!

Pawn Hearts is the real work of genius, I really like all other 13 albums but PH is something....not of this world. I can listen to it 10 times a day.PH is the only album in prog to which I would give 100 points out of 100.

I can't in good conscience answer this since I only own H to He and Pawn Hearts. And I'm still split tween those two, likely cause Pawn Hearts is a newer addition. I can't wait to expand my VDGG collection though!

Godbluff and no other. Still Life is kinda close, I suppose, and I never much cared for Pawn Hearts.

Love them all (with the exception of the debut and "Trisector" ... haven't heard them yet), but I voted for the one with the same initials as the frontman!!

As I said elsewhere, to me Godbluff is the absolute pinnacle of VdGG's career. It is so complete.

Godbluff is a rock masterpiece (and not just a prog rock masterpiece, but rock in general).

Pawn Hearts is perfect. Poetic, epic, a much deeper meaning than just an album, chaotic and serene at the same time... Man this album changed my life.

Least We Can Do...: I was thinking of choosing H To He..., but this on wins out due to sentimentality; this was the album that got me into the group in the first place. And what an album!
