This might be a silly question, but where are all the non-American PA users?

What do you mean? There are a ton of Canadians, a number of Brits, a few Frenchies, and a number of Scandinavians as well

Well, regarding Canadians, last time I checked their country was still in America. As for the rest, the only Europeans I came across since I first began dropping by the PA room are Takeshi and ProgGeo.

Ahem. Wink

I'd be popping in more often, but my house-move is rather imminent now so I don't really have the time. Hopefully I'll be participating more regularly next month! Smile

How are Canadians American? It's a completely different country!

Well I'll name some Europeans for you... harmonium.ro live in Paris, James, TopographicBroadways, Easy Livin, Jim Garten, Tony R, and Dean all live in the UK (as well as a number of others- those are just the ones that come to mind), Angelo lives in The Netherlands, Ricochet lives in Romania (or he's Romanian and live elsewhere, I'm not sure), angelmk likes in Macedonia, and countless others of our 32,000 members live in Europe.

Buddy, I don't know what they teach you in school over there, but America is a continent, not a country - hence, Canadians, Peruvians, Mexicans, United Staters, Brazilians = Americans.

And obviously I meant why don't more that 4 (I stand corrected, Hemulen) users out of the massive non-American contingent on PA visit the place.
Bigger on the inside.

The word American refers to a citizen of the United States, though, and inhabitants of any of those other countries fine it pretty offensive to be lumped with that. Wink

We here can refer to both the United States and the whole continent of North America (and their respective populations) when saying "America" (and "Americans"). We should probably make it more clear to which we are referring, but you also should be aware of this.

I know, I've had that discussion with many Europeans and they simply don't see it the same way we do.  Canadians can be called North Americans, but not Americans.

This statement seems a bit too generic to me. I agree with this. Calling Canadians Americans seems to me as if maples are mistaken for oaks. Wink
