Well, you only have to go to the what are you listening to thread to see that a lot of us have diverse tastes in music. 
 
it often revolves around rock music (not that many country music, classical music, traditional music/world music, black music (funk, gospel, reggae, ska, gospel), flamenco, tango, calypso, afrobeat, jazz (swing era)).

Well put. I even loved Little Creatures from 85'. I only started to struggle with true Stories and Naked. But yes the whole association of Eno in the 80's, Belew - I am a big KC 80's fan.....Who said prog had died!!Approve

Funny, I always considered TH to be proggy.  First album I heard was More Songs About....  Understand, this was in real time, i.e., 1978.  Granted, they weren't Yes or ELP, but then Yes or ELP weren't Yes or ELP by that time.  The Eno angle.  The Fripp angle.  Hell, listen to Discipline.  Listen to Before and After Science.  It's what prog had become.  Listen to Fear of Music.  Bow down.  Listen to Remain In Light...it's Miles Davis On The Corner meets New Wave.  Bow down.

Well, you only have to go to the what are you listening to thread to see that a lot of us have diverse tastes in music.  Still a good 90-95% is prog and this site has made it "worse" than it might normally be.  But I was very much your typical prog fan when I got into TH and I still consider them to be prog anyway.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I'd probably flip out and stop listening to music if I could only listen to prog.  Gotta keep it varied (though I'll admit I first checked out Talking Heads because of Belew's involvement on Remain in Light after listening to King Crimson).

I went through a post-punk phase in my life so I understand Talking Heads, and David Byrne's collaboration with Brian Eno perfectly.  Wouldn't expect other progheads to feel the same. Their style is not for your average prog fan.

Well worth it, also check out his other great release " Casual Gods"...I think it is his third solo.
I've got that one from '87 and Walk On Water from '90.  Neither quite as good as his first.

Remain in light is the only album i like, got this dvd Stop making sense , never managed to watch more than 3 tracks.....i'll try to give a last chance.....

I really liked Talking Heads up to and including Fear of Music but after that Byrne (found) the plot and they lost their neurotic edginess. The marriage of white and black music styles as attempted by Remain In Light and Speaking in Tongues sound about as passionate as a pre-nuptial agreement and horribly dated now to my ears.

Remain in Light certainly.  Its probably the only music with vocals for more than a minute or two that I listen to.  I'm not a fan of pop music, but they just do it correctly.  I haven't heard other albums and was actually introduced to Remain in Light via a fantastic Phish show in which they played the entire album straight through.  The weirder second half of the album might be better when Phish does it actually.....
Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell?
