Poor Pluto.

But my fav is Neptune (Titan, stars can frighten)
Such beautiful colors
Under the rocks and stones,
there is water underground

I wouldn't have picked it.  I mean Earth actually wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for the infestation of "evolved" simians.

I wonder how many Beavises and Buttheads picked Uranus for the obvious reasons.

Anyway, I've always loved Pluto, but since it is no longer deemed a planet, I pick Neptune for many of the same reasons you did.  Mars would have been my second choice.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

....and a lot more Co2ey.....

....and with a thinner atmosphere......

....and bereft of liquid water.....

.....and sterile......

......and .....

You'd prefer a planet that would kill you in a few seconds compared to Earth?

The question was your favorite planet, not which planet would you prefer to live on.  Wink

I would think that one of your criteria for "favorite" would be the living conditions. I rarely mention arsenic as my favorite salad dressing for this reason.

Actually, the criteria I used for favorite in this case was how interesting I find the planet scientifically and aesthetically.  Living conditions never entered into my consideration.  Actually, had Earth been included and living conditions were a consideration, that would have rendered this whole poll moot, as Earth would have been the only real choice available. By not including Earth, you acknowledged that.

By the way, you don't know what you're missing.  Although I prefer arsenic more as a dessert topping.

I did not know this:

Quote

Venus takes 224.7 days to complete one orbit around the Sun. But it takes 243.02 days to spin once on its axis. In other words, a day on Venus is actually longer than a year on Venus. Even stranger, Venus is rotating backwards compared to the rest of the planets in the Solar System. Seen from above the north pole, Venus is seen to be turning clockwise. If you could stand on the surface of Venus, you would see the Sun rise in the West, slowly move across the sky, and set in the East. The opposite of Earth.

My favourite planet is definitely Earth. I just cannot live without it!

Mercury comes close to having this affect. That being the day longer than a year. Mercury has 3 days for every 2 years.

And although it doesn't have a retrograde orbit as Venus does, it exhibits this retrograde effect.

Quote At certain points on Mercury's surface, an observer would be able to see the Sun rise about halfway, then reverse and set before rising again, all within the same Mercurian day. This is because approximately four Earth days before perihelion, Mercury's angular orbital velocity exactly equals its angular rotational velocity so that the Sun's apparent motion ceases; at perihelion, Mercury's angular orbital velocity then exceeds the angular rotational velocity. Thus, to a hypothetical observer on Mercury, the Sun appears to move in a retrograde direction. Four days after perihelion, the Sun’s normal apparent motion resumes at these points.[13]

Venus and Uranus is the only planets which have an unatural orbit, or tilt, of some sort, other have "normal" axes, and spins as they should, Confused

I would have said Pluto, if only scientists decided not to call it a planet anymore. Tongue

I voted for Jupiter, it's huge and I would like to see the inside of the giant red storm (without getting killed of course). I would have said Pluto, if only scientists decided not to call it a planet anymore. Tongue

Saturn is pretty sweet looking.
Though how about the largest known star
VY Canis Majoris.
It's almost 2 billion miles in diameter. 2100 times larger than our sun!
