The thing is that I doubt the OP is looking for atmosphere in the black metal sense of the word...
Isis was a good mention, so was Radiohead. You'd like Gazpacho, Amplifier, Abigal's Ghost, and maybe Oceansize. You might also like some psytrance/psybient. Not prog really, but check out Shpongle and Carbon Based Lifeforms. Early Porcupine Tree was influenced by that stuff.

I hadn't even considered post-rock/post-metal. Those genres are atmospheric almost by definition. I already have stuff by Isis, EITS (saw them in concert a few days ago!), GYBE, TWDY, Pelican and Sigur Ros. Also Ozrics (not post-rock) and one Devin Townsend (not atmospheric, though!). And Portishead. And one Bjork.

I got the latest Oceansize recently. Only listened to it a few times, but I am not yet a fan. Is this a typical sound for them?
Just listened to this, and earlier based on another thread listened to two other songs. GREAT!!!! I will have to get some of their stuff for sure! Thanks for the suggestion!
