Do you hear something different? I heard hard rock and little else from the sample.

The predominant sound I'm hearing on most tracks is certainly hard/alternative rock, but there also seems to be a variety of more subtle psychedelic sounds layered beneath - more noticeably on some of the quieter tracks, of course. I would tend to listen to the whole album before writing them off, and you can do just that either by visiting guitarworld.com: http://www.guitarworld.com/exclusive-premiere-monstro-streaming-self-titled-debut-album or you can cut out the middle man and go straight to soundcloud.com where the music is hosted: http://soundcloud.com/guitarworld/sets/monstro-monstro/s-hjoiu. This set was uploaded 19 days ago - I don't know if its availability is time-limited.

respectable album ... basically hard and heavy rock with some grunge flavour
as for stuff with psych/space prog relation I would name the songs 'Olympia' and 'April' for example, which I definitely like.
A good call, Svetonio ... overall though there is not enough prog essence to get included on Progarchives in my opinion
