Hmmm! With the original artwork I might have to consider getting these, even though I already have them. Generally I hate buying the same album a second time, but...!

Here is an update:
These two albums are remastered from the original 1/4" tapes (recently acquired by Derek) and will be released with bonus material in cd and digital format on Gentle Giant's imprint Alucard and distributed through EMI on 27 Sept 2011. infocat - Yes, you'll get remastered tracks and bonus material :-) Zombywolf - But no vinyl release this time around Rune2000 & CCVP - yes, the boys are quite active and eager to talk about their music... even Phil Shulman who we haven't heard from in awhile! Any other questions, just fire away

Yes, please, I have a few. Are you aware of the Three Friends situation? It seem the project started out slowly and a bit fragile (of course it's takes a lot to wake the Giant), grew, got Kerry and then did some awesome gigs. Now some changes in the line up again, but still gigs. But.. then they cancelled the gig in Italy due to "reasons beyond their control"... No updates available and sadly no contact seems possible (have even tried Mortimore via his personal site). I am dying to hear them play again.
I don't know how close you are to the band.. but I'm also wondering about if it could be the case that some secret tapes existed... Two DVD's, Scraping the Barrell and many live cd's is of course more than we can ask for---but. They should shoot a Three Friends gig and out it out with the final, if there's some, stuff.
have a nice day

Neat, I've been meaning to listen to Octopus for a while now and this seems like a good opportunity to do so.

More updates:
Derek Shulman (Facebook) September 27th sees the release of the remastered "Octopus" & "Three Friends". Taken from the original 1/4" master tapes, the digipaks of the albums will include 30 minutes of rare bonus recordings and booklets of old rare photos from the same period. The original artwork from Roger Dean and Martin Birch will finally be made available on the packages..Hope you all enjoy! GENTLE GIANT (Facebook) Both remasters were supervised by the band, and were superbly done. Taken from the original 1/4-inch studio tapes, there is greatly-enhanced sonic clarity while the original analog warmth is retained. These remasters deliver the rich detail evident in both albums, far exceeding any previous remastering efforts. Fans of Gentle Giant will be well-pleased. This is long-overdue, and both of these great albums are truly deserving of such an excellent effort. |

.co.uk may not, but the American Amazon has them already (that's where the link buttons on their site take me, too).

Well I decided to purchase a copy of each off Amazon.co.uk via an American seller. Means I am paying a premium but never mind, they are classics and I really want them.
