That Metal Show had this as a throw down and chose Permanent Waves so I figured I'll ask PA. I choose Permanent Waves by a Different String

Permanent Waves is far superior to Moving Pictures.  In fact, I can think of five or six I like better than Moving Pictures, even though I love it very much.

Moving Pictures is far from my favorite Rush album, but for some reason Permanent Waves has never really clicked for me. I like the Spirit of Radio and Freewill is okay, but the rest of the tracks don't do much for me. I am always surprised at how popular it is on these forums.

Also, overplayed as it is, Limelight is still awesome. And Vital Signs doesn't get enough love.

Natural Science made the difference to me
I look up, I'm almost blinded

by the warmth of what's inside me

and the taste that's in my soul,

but I'm dead inside as I stand alone...

I enjoy Moving pictures more than Permanent Waves.

All TIme Favorite - Hemsipheres
Current Favorite - Hold Your Fire

I consider myself a Rush fanboy, so I hold all of their albums in high regards.

Moving Pictures is quite average for me. PW is slightly better, though nothing I'd call brilliant.

I like your taste in Rush - this mirrors my own. Thumbs Up  As to the poll, Permanent Waves looses steam for me after Jacob's Ladder and not even Natural Science can fully restore it.  Moving Pictures, on the other hand, remains consistently good all the way through.  I truly regard it as one of their best albums.

Let's see. My favorite tracks from:

Permanent Waves - "Spirit Of Radio", "Free Will", "Jacob's Ladder", "Different Strings", "Natural Science"
Moving Pictures - "Tom Sawyer", "Red Barchetta", "YYZ", "Limelight", "Camera Eye", "Witch Hunt"

By going on the number of songs I like, Pictures is the superior album, but in terms of percentage, they're both even, though I think Pictures is a tad more focused.

Its close but Moving Pictures has four amazing tracks which is why I vote for it although in the battle of the longish tracks Natural Science is better than Camera Eye. If you were to switch those tracks round then it wouldn't be as close.
