Woohoo! First vote for Choirs. Though I'd be happy with The Mars Volta passing as well.
Honestly, anything but Power to Believe and I won't complain.

They're all great choices but I had to go with FOABP. That album is a sheer masterpiece start to finish. Btw, I've really enjoyed this poll series! Hope to see something like it soon!

I don't want any of these to win. They're all brilliant, but every single one of them is outclassed by a previous or future album by the same band.

'Deadwing' is the best Porcupine Tree album,
'Frances The Mute' is far, far better than 'Deloused',
'Anno Domini High Definition' is better than 'Second Life Syndrome'
Pretty much anything is better than that KC album.

Ah well, out of these I vote for In Absentia, but it makes me uncomfortable that I'm voting for the best 21st century prog album, not just choosing out of these great albums.

I'm not saying the album isn't fine craftmanship but man It'll be depressing if an alternative rock album wins. It not even alternative, most of the time. 3/4 of it could easily be inluded on an Adult Contemporay formatted radio station, and no one would react.

I like all about equally, but Kayo Dot and Mars Volta are the ones I'd give 5 stars.

Second Life Syndrome.

The album that showed me that prog metal can be brilliant and encouraged me to explore Opeth, too.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people who know a lot more about prog than you (not saying me, that would be a lie) would disagree with you there, hence the inclusion of the album in The Archives. Would you argue with them?

Not every album in the Archives is prog, and In Absentia is one that I many others dont consider prog, though its still far and away the best thing PT have ever done.

Anyway, unbelievably easy win for Kayo Dot here with TMV offering the only sign of resistance.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

^ Presumably these 'many others' either don't post or don't review?(which is of course their prerogative)

I don't need to argue with them. Sleeper's basically already said it, but you know your argument is not a valid one. Porcupine Tree would not be here if In Absentia was their only albumrelease.

I like the album for what it is, btw.

You certainly have the right to your opinion. I'm sure many people don't find Kayo Dot prog either, but then we could have an endless subjective debate on which one is or isn't prog. Fact of the matter is they're here and people are voting for them.
