The fun thing with these polls is that they give me the incentive to check out artists I've never heard of before. I'm listening to AC right now, quite good, methinks.

I don't really mind thid decision, if Porcupine Tree falls out of the polls, everything would become so much more interesting, however, it might end up with Dream Theater just walking throught the rest of the matches. I don't really mind PT or DT winning this, but it would be far more interesting if they didn't make it to the finals. |
I agree, but it still is unfair.

All imho:
It would be more fair if this had been done from the beginning. With each poll title mentioning only the underdog. Ofcourse the knowledge would quickly spread among the frequent visitors of pa. Now it just seems like favouritism.

Thanks !! Your topics always so good and informative. I like you talk.

I'm aware of what I've done and I knew this wouldn't seem right to a lot of people.
But try to understand that I didn't want a poll where voters knew only 1 of the competitors. That was even more unfair to my eyes. At the moment the poll is 14-12 in favour of After Crying and I'm pretty sure that all the people who voted knew both contestants. Is that favoritism? I don't think so.
If I had done this the way I had been doing it, the scoreboard probably would have shown a massive victory of Porcupine Tree filled with meaningless votes of people interested only on PT reaching the finals.
I didn't do this before because it occured to me just recently, and I figured out that the only match that would need this idea would be this one. The monster versus the total underdog.
To those who still think this is unfair, you could post something in one of the old polls of the tournament to make people realise that the competition is taking place on this current poll. I could not prevent that.
Finally, try to understand that running a poll for 5 months and counting can be a little boring, and innovation sometimes is needed.

If Porcupine Tree loses....
I will not be able stop laughing.
But PT for me. AC is great, but they're not PT.

It would be kind of cool is PT doesn't advance, because I thought from the beginning that they would win the whole competition.

To be honest, I didn't think After Crying would be winning.
What I wonder is the reaction of people on the next match, when they see that Porcupine Tree has already played.
So far the people on this poll have been very polite, even when they didn't agree with what I've done. But if Porcupine Tree finally is eliminated, my god, I won't be able to make another poll on PA ever again

If you want to know if I do have a favorite, look at my nickname and think again. Anyway, I don't think DT will go much further, as they have as much detractors as fans. They had trouble beating Talk Talk, whom I love, but is not a strong opponent in my opinion.

This is so true, thanks to the tournament I've discovered Anekdoten, Gazpacho, Oceansize, The Tangent, Porcupine Tree (not really ;) ) and many more which I didn't heard before... Anyways, I don't like After Crying very much so I'll go with almighty PT...

I look up, I'm almost blinded
by the warmth of what's inside me
and the taste that's in my soul,
but I'm dead inside as I stand alone...

I'm quite bad at Opeth (even if I have seen them live 3 times and another upcoming concert) so I didn't know that they have an album called Morning Rise. Now I do. I could take the opportunity and ask for a good 2nd album to buy by them, I have Still Life (and it was good enough to get me to go and see them 3 times). So... what's your recomendation?

After Crying without Doubt.
Porecupine Tree is one of the most boring bands I ever listened,. only more entertaining than Camel.

When I first saw this thread, all I saw was "A Poll for Those Who Know..." and I thought it was a Cynic-themed poll.

Blackwater Park, My Arms Your Hearse or Morningrise...if you liked Still Life you can't go wrong with any of them.

^ I know it's obvious, but not specifying this kind of things will end up in people reminding me that I should have done that.
Even when I explained several times how the tiebreaker works.
