Cinema Show is a better stuctured song with better lyrics (somewhat heavily indebted to TS Eliot) and a better keyboard solo. Aside from that it's a close call!
'Like so many of you
I've got my doubts about how much to contribute
to the already rich among us...'

Robert Wyatt, Gloria Gloom

You might be able to take a pebble and throw it in the sea, but you can't do that to a cinema show. Take a little ex-lax, with Father Tiresiass.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Take a Pebble is my favorite song off of the only ELP album i enjoy.

But it still isn't as good as The Cinema Show
Crushed like a rose in the riverflow.

I go with Cinema Show. I find Take a Pebble a very beautiful piece of music indeed, but the middle instrumental section just doesn't click so well for me... I like much better the vocal parts. Cinema Show is great all the way.

None can be considered as epics IMHHO.

The choice between those two songs is obvious: Cinema Show of course!

You're kidding, right? Take a Pebble is pretty good, one of my favorite ELP songs, but comparing it to the Cinema Show? Cinema Show is one of those journeys that takes you through so many emotions, from the romantic first half, to the majestic keyboard solo, which is better than Emerson's work in Take a Pebble.

I hate that ELP always takes a drubbing on this site, but you pitted it against one of my favorite Genesis songs.
I do however like Take a Pebble far better than Supper's Ready.

The classic `Cinema Show' gets my vote, even though I LOVE `Take A Pebble' and all of that first ELP album. The instrumental middle section in particular of `Pebble' has always been pretty special to me.

Now that's a great misheard lyric right there.  LOL

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?
