One of the most important japanese fusion bands, Prism has been active since the late seventies.
Their first releases contain a great mix of fusion and prog, though the first album is practically just jazz oriented. Beneath The Sea and Fuji are lenghtly over ten-minute long compositions on the second and third album. Akira Wada, one of Japans top guitarists has been the bands leader through its long career. Their newest album is on Spotify. Prism sounds similar to Casiopea, though its more prog oriented. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prism_%28Japanese_band%29 |

No, they only have one album there and its called Palace in the Sky but its from 2011. Their
proggiest stuff is from the late seventies and early eighties. Palace In The Sky is a good album, bit funky. this is a short instrumental acoustc piece fromtheir third album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMVUzqi8kYM and another rarity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LofxXqEGyIA&feature=related |

I'm checking out the new album on Spotify and it sounds to me quite fuzaky with a pretty basic songwriting. Not sure what to think.
Also lol, the Wiki entry credits Ken Watanabe as a band member. That would be so awesome! EDIT: I'll notify the JR/F team and let them decide on this. Unfortunately I can't link to the album on Spotify, but searching up "Prism Palace In The Sky" in the Spotify search engine should do the trick. Edited by harmonium.ro - December 12 2011 at 10:52 |

Watanabe was a founding member of Prism and played with them over 20 years.

^ Right, I thought they confused Kazumi Watanabe with the actor Ken Watanabe. Turns out there actually is a musician named Ken Watanabe.
Oh and the Palace In The Sky album is definitely by the same band we're talking about here, it is mentioned on their official website. |
