I do love Genesis and have just about all their progy albums, but i would prefer pretty much every KC track in their 70's on most of Genesis tracks.

I enjoy Starless more than anything by Genesis. It might have been a closer match against Supper's, and Musical v. Lizard might be close as well. Either way my vote goes to KC.

Firth of Fifth isn't even that good.
Crushed like a rose in the riverflow.

if it was Firth of Fifth vs Starless it would have been a much harder decision, but Starless. Easily.

I always believed that Musical Box is the best song ever.

It has everything,

1.- Great lyrics and concept
2.- Excellent melody in various passages
3.- Radical changes
4.- The best finale in history

This song describes Prog, the production is not perfect, but I thought we were here for the music.

Starless is great (One of the few King Crimson songs I like apart from ItCotCK), but doesn't come remotely close.

My 2 cents

Iván

I have to say 'The Musical Box' ... because it's more ... unstable.

Starless, just because I feel that it has more of a sense of movement and progression, from the soft opening section to the two note guitar solo to the epic ending....also, Starless has one of my favorite endings ever to a song...Musical Box is great too, probably one of my favorite Genesis tracks

"Starless" is downright sublime, and one of my top 10 favorite songs ever recorded.  "The Musical Box," while wonderful in its own right, doesn't even come close.

Today, Musical Box. Better video. I love Peter Gabriel's antics.

Today I have listened to the Starless cover by Akt. Even the cover is superb.

Starless for me. King Crimson is just a lot better than Genesis for me...

to me Musical Box is one of the greatest prog tracks, with one of the greatest end sequences, ever, and I'm not a huge Genesis fan.  In fact, I prefer KC overall, mostly on the basis of their earliest classics, but, like Hercules said, the first few minutes of Starless and the end are enough for me.  So Musical Box all the way

The Musical Box is great, one of Genesis' most rocking tunes, but...I still have to go with Starless.
Besides, Starless has better lyricsWink
