Luis Alberto Spinetta (Invisible+) has lung cancer

Yesterday, Luis Alberto Spinetta, one of the biggest icons of argentinean rock (if not the biggest one) , leader of acts such as Almendra, Invisible, Pescado Rabioso, Spinetta Jade, and los Socios del Desierto, has announced through his son's twitter account that he's been battling lung cancer since July. He stated that his family, his beloved friends and the best doctors are taking care of him, and that he's fine, in treatment, wishing for a full recovery. He's also asked his fans not to panic and not to listen to inexact news about his health local journalists "vultures" say. Finally, he reminded people not to drive if they have been drinking during the upcoming festivities. This is the full letter, in spanish:

"Buenos Aires. Diciembre 23, 2011. Mi nombre es Luis Alberto Spinetta. Tengo 61 años y soy músico. Desde el mes de julio sé que tengo cáncer de pulmón. Estoy muy cuidado por una familia amorosa, por los amigos del alma, y por los mejores médicos que tenemos en el país. Ante el aluvión de información inexacta, quiero aclarar públicamente las condiciones de mi estado de salud. Me encuentro muy bien, en pleno tratamiento hacia una curación definitiva. Quiero agradecer a todos por la buena onda que he recibido, y pedirles que no paniqueen, y no tomen en cuenta las noticias que han generado los buitres de turno. No tengo ninguna red social, ni Twitter, ni Facebook, etc., por lo tanto todo lo que lean al respecto es falso. Pertenezco a Conduciendo a Conciencia, y les recuerdo que ahora en las Fiestas, si van a conducir, no deben beber. Gracias. Los quiero mucho. Felices Fiestas. Luis".
