I would like to suggest two artists for jazz-rock / fusion: The German guitar and bass player Muck Groh and the band Grotesk (of which Muck Groh was a member). Both apparently only made one album. Muck Groh recorded "Muckef**k" (the title has nothing to do with the "f" word; it is a German word for bad coffee)., and Grotesk recorded a self-titled album. Both artists are related to the German band Aera, which is already in the archives.
Here a link to a site where you can hear several tracks from Muckef**k": http://www.myspace.com/muckgroh And another track from that album, which I found on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rv6INVz2ps0 This is almost the whole album and should convince you of the addition of him. And here a link to two tracks of Grotesk, which I found on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoVQj2KXCyA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btO1owGtO1M Unfortunately I can't find more tracks of them, but these two, together with the relation to Aera, should make it clear that Grotesk are a worthy addition to the archives. I will gladly write a bio for Muck Groh, but would have to do some research on Grotesk; I only discovered them today. Edited by BaldFriede - January 19 2012 at 06:07 |

The 'f' word is a British word for bad coffee too - I use it all the time when people give me bad coffee! ![]() Back on a more serious note: It appears that this band were dropped in Prog Folk team's thread by Art Rock Special Collaborator Atavachron back in October 2008, when they were suggested by Takeshi Kovacs. http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=52478
Not too sure whether any samples were dug up back then though. Alex will probably be able to throw more light on it.
Sounds like decent Jazz-Rock to me, skillfully blended with Psychedelic Folk passages. Edit: I'm not sure whether both suggestions will be considered together - it is usual to start separate threads for each artist, but since both these are the work of the same guy (& in both he is teamed with the same drummer he previously played with in 'Aera', Wolfgang Teske) it seems logical to consider them together. He was also involved (with Wolfgang) in a 'Grotesk2' album in 1980, and the revival of former band Aera as 'Neue Aera' (CD 'Aerabian released in 2010).

Grotesk or Muck Groh? Anyway, both are more suited for jazz-rock. |

It was Muck Groh who were suggested before - no mention of Grotesk that time. Yes, I agree - Jazz-Rock is predominantly what this is, the Folk aspect is just a secondary one.

Muck Groh has been cleared for addition. In only 11 months. A bio would help. Edited by Evolver - December 13 2012 at 17:17 |
