Aquarius is an excellent album, but Visions is a masterpiece. It's much more coherent and unified.

There are certainly a lot of comparisons to be made between the two bands, but I actually like Haken, probably because their lead singer isn't James LaBrie.

You have obviously never seen the guys live. Their singer, without the studio magic, actually makes LaBrie sound passable.

I've never seen DT live, but I've seen Haken 3 times so far and Ross Jennings is a good singer, even if I'm not a big fan of that style these days.

Wow, really? All of the band's live video I've seen he's been quite terrible. Still, one thing is to see them through the internet and the other is seeing them actually play in front of you.

^Yeah, the first time was actually back in 2008 when they opened for Kings X (with an awsome if short set from To-Mera in between), and they sounded a bit different in those days, and Ross was far more willing to do the death metal growls as well.

Visions for sure. Aquarius is good but a bit overated IMO.

I must admit that, although I like Aquarius, I'm not a huge fan of it. However, Visions is quite high in my imaginary prog-metal list...So Visions it is for me.

I prefer the songwriting on Visions, more concise without losing any of the excitement of the debut.

Visions for me, both get regular play time though. There are a few brief sections I don't necessarily care for on Visions, but the title track is absolutely incredible. It leaves me with the feeling that I just witnessed something amazing every time I finish listening to it... I like these guys better than Dream Theater.
