Fair enough Svetonio, though I can't see Wind & Wuthering losing to any album really...

A Trick of The Tail
Wind And Wuthering

2 virtually perfect albums released both within a year, are you kidding???

Wind and Wuthering.  Shamal is pretty weak for a Gong album IMO.

`Wind and Wuthering' is one of my favourite Genesis albums, so it gets the vote over Gong. As for `Shamal', despite having some terrific moments, I much prefer the Gong albums before it (Radio Gnome Trilogy) and right after it (Gazeuse, Expresso 2, etc).

I also find `Shamal' has some of the worst and most inane rhyming lyrics, I would have much preferred if the album had been totally instrumental. It loses several points for that from me!

If it was A Trick of the Tail, I would doubt, because not a fan of such a calmed transitional album, but W&W is the best GENESIS album since Gabriel left (Except Your Own Special Way).

The two first mini epics are a return to the darker roots of Genesis, closer to Foxtrot than to Selling England....Blood on the Rooftops, is a step towards he acid humor of Gabriel era like in Hariold the Barrell, and songs like Afterglow are extremely beautiful.

Magic album, the best Collins did with Genesis on vocals.

GonG as still got Hillage.  I used to only like Daevid Allen's Gong but now I actually listent to post Allen stuff just as much.  Not that bothered about W&W or TOTT soShamal

Apparently, Michael Jackson was a big fan of this one.

I'd like to know the story behind MJ liking Shamal if that wasn't just a joke.  Two really good albums but I am missing any correlation.  Shamal perhaps could have benefited from more polishing.  Blasphemy for some but I still prefer non Allen Gong. Of course Gong with Daevid and Gilli are also a lot of fun in my book.  The double W for me.

I had to wonder that too.  My first thought was that they were both transitional albums released by different groups in the same year, but it turns out Shamal was 1975 and Wuthering was 1976. Close enough?

Shamal for being more consistant.

W&W is probably my favorite Genesis album, easily five stars for me, so it gets my vote.  Shamal is merely very good and I rate it four stars.

I could live without both, but I must admit I voted for Genesis this time. Gong lost it's soul completely on Shamal.

My least favourite GonG that I've heard VS my least not-favourite Genesis, and GonG still takes it.
