Topic: Pages slow loadingPosted: February 18 2012 at 23:39 |

I recently upgraded my computer's memory to the max which has been a vast improvement in speed except for PA which has actually been slower loading than before. Average time per page is 30 to 60 seconds. Is it me or is anyone else having this problem? I don't visit that many sites but of the ones I do, the ones that were slow before are now much faster. Any suggestions?

Increasing your memory (RAM) ain't gonna affect how quickly pages load - that's either a bandwith/modem issue or there may be some of your system software that sites like PA use to display certain info needs updating e.g java etc
BTW I'm not a techie so treat my advice with extreme caution/prejudice ![]() |

When browsing the main site (not the forum) I find it can be quicker if you log out first. That way the site is not gathering in your personal ratings to each page.

Nah, that's right. If it's just the pages loading slowly, it's an internet problem not a computer problem. Whether it's on your end or PA's end I'm not sure, although the pages have been loading fine for me so its probably you. If you're on wireless, try an ethernet cable directly to your router or network switch and see if that helps.

Thanks for the response. I'll try some things on my end. I do have an old computer that I'm trying to get by with for now. Not much of a tech guy either. Kind of learning as I go. Also Atavachron, I know you were half joking but the day or time doesn't seem to matter although today is much better. I'm averaging 13 seconds. That's the best it's been in months. Thanks for the help.

It may because you are using Internet Explorer. Both Prog Archives and Metal Music Archives were painfully slow for me too, but then I switched to Google Chrome and now everything loads almost instantly.

i posted on a thread "Gone But Not Forgotten" today connected with Top Tens and Lists. When i try to load the page that the post is on, the page won't fully load, and one time my avatar appeared as a face with a question mark in it.
Is this something at your end or my end? |
