Both excellent. Benefit was my first Tull album, so that for sentimental reasons.

Minstrel is perhaps the greatest Tull album ever

Benefit by a mile (IMHO). To me (agreeing with other posts I've seen here) This was (!) the last vestiges of any trace of Jethro Tull the band. There were (and are?) still interesting albums to come, but from Ian Anderson, the solo artist.

Minstrel to me is perhaps the definitive JT album, has both the introspective anderson acoustic bits, of stunning beauty, and the hard hitting rockier JT sound, in spades during the title track! Also, Baker St. Muse is perhaps one of the finest things ever recorded. While I think Benefit is very good, i really can't place it in the same league as Minstrel (but props especially to Cornick and Bunker on Benefit, would have been nice for Glen to stick around).

Two of my favourite Tull albums, with barely a gnat's whisker between them. I think Benefit has a very slight edge over Minstrel, though.

Minstrel - just. Baker street Muse being the clincher. Love Benefit too though.

Ooooo. How close is this?!
Early on in the polling Benefit was dragging its feet...so to speak but now there has been a surge of support for it.
Benefit is sublime.

Minstrel. Not even close. I'd rate Benefit Tull's 7th or 8th best album. Maybe 9th.

If I could have I would have...voted for Benefit. Though I like Minstrel in the Gallery (the song especially, but also the album) I must say that I enjoy Benefit more. B is loaded with great songs, while MitG only have three IMHO; the title track, Cold Winds... and Baker St. Muse.

Benefit! One of my favorites from the band. Minstrel is just okay to me.
