On the site is a link to the record label page where amid the superlatives is the following information on this album:

"three ecstatic and terrifying new tracks, and an archival recording of the legendary Malgaard Suite from 1972."

Yes, that will be awesome.  But if I must find something to b*tch about, the title sucks.

Great news! I shall be buying a copy for certain.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive

Indeed! As usual, 2012 is shaping up to be a year with a lot of anticipated releases...hope that they line up!

This is great. I'm seeing them live tonight, maybe they'll play some new material.

They played all three of the new tracks, first the title track, then a very calm song called The Return, and then (on first hearing) the best of the bunch, which was "about a pagan sacrifice of a virgin for harvest". I'm sure they said the name too, but right now I can't remember it. They were... very promising. Very much Comus, but not quite wild as the first album. The crowd responded really enthusiastically to them, even compared to the classic First Utterance material, which in its entirety was the rest of the set. A great gig.

And they called the upcoming release an EP, so when it's time it should be added as such, not a full studio album.

Ahh, here's the track listing for the EP:

Side One
1. Out of the Coma 8.35
2. The Sacrifice 8.39
3. The Return 6.22

Side Two
1.The Malgaard Suite (featuring an introduction by Roger Wootton) 15.49

It's coming out on vinyl in mid-April, and sometime later on CD, they said. Seems to be LP length, but due to the half-new half-old, half-studio half-live nature of it it should be listed as they say.

I was also at the gig in Helsinki last saturday and I agree that the new songs sounded promising. They didn't grip me the same way some of the old songs did, but still showed potential. I'll definitely give the new songs some spins when the EP comes out.

I listened to First Utterance after the gig and thought that the singer's (what the hell, I love that album, I should know one name from the band, right?) voice was a lot better in places now years later as an angry old man.

I don't seem to have permission to start a new thread in the gig listings forum present, so I hope people don't mind but I'm posting here to draw attention to a show we've organised in London next month:

...Full details at the Facebook event page &

I'm hoping that this 5th post will unlock my ability to create threads, but I guess we'll see...!

Tickets for this Comus show next month are at:

...And here's a great clip of them playing perhaps their most disturbing song - 'Drip Drip' - in Helsinki last year:
