Topic: Spanishing Crimson! Posted: April 24 2012 at 03:22 |
Hi, so I'm back again with a new batch of polls, this time with my loved King Crimson. I have noticed namely that most of their tracks from the classic era (1969-1974) can be classified according to the prevailing sound of any instrument.
This is the last part of this bunch of polls.
I am curious about your preferences.
Note: This poll includes only songs from King Crimson studio albums; from the period mentioned above.

Cirkus. But I don't know whether it is Spanish or Acoustic guitar. Gets my vote anyway.

Definitely Cirkus for me, it shows fripp's exquisite guitar playing and how creative and diverse he is.

I prefer Cadence and Cascade, beautiful and dreamy ballad.

I always liked Fripps understated acoustic guitar on ITCOTCK with it's use of harmonics for the arpgeggios.

Cirkus, featuring Fripp's most distinctive acoustic guitar work. Looks like that back in the day Fripp wasn't much of an acoustic guy.

Am I the only person who think KC is a little overrated among prog circles. Epitaph, In the court, Peace, Exiles are all very good though. I personally think the 2nd album's a bit disappointing. Cadence is quite a good song but suffers from quite bad vocals imo. I think I remember In the wake of being quite good as well. I think King Crimson is overrated because they are one of the 'trendy' prog bands. I admit they did some good stuff but I could live without In the Wake of and Lizard. Hang on a minute, I DO. Some of their music is a bit cold - I think there are more enjoyable bands out there. Try Supertramp, Pavlov's Dog, Kayak, to name a few. Just my opinion.

Hell no for eleventh!!!
The same case as Pavlov's Dog. I can't really stand that annoying Surkamp's voice.
And Kayak? 3rd league or what?

Never mind, but C is "do" (and "si" is B).

"Spanish" or "classical" guitar is one of the basic types (we can say archetype) of acoustic guitars. These terms may coincide to someone, but in principle, their sounds are very similar. Different types of acoustic guitars distinct mainly in size, by the number of strings or tuning. A vastly different is the sound of various steel or resophonic guitars. (However, I don't remember, something like that was ever used by Robert Fripp.)
